Ingredients

25-30 minutes
8-10 modak
  1. 1/2 cupMilk
  2. 1 cupMilk powder
  3. 1 tspGhee
  4. as neededSaffron strands & cardamom powder
  5. 1/4 cupSugar
  6. For filling,
  7. as neededMotichur

Cooking Instructions

25-30 minutes
  1. 1

In a saucepan, take milk and milk powder. Mix well using whisk until it becomes smooth/lump-free.

  2. 2

Cook it on a low flame. After 5 minutes, mixture will start thickening. Add ghee, saffron strands and cardamom powder; keep stirring.

  3. 3

Add sugar when mixture becomes semi-thick.
    I have used granulated sugar.*

  4. 4

Cook until mixture leaves the edges of the pan.
Make sure you keep stirring to avoid lump formation.*

  5. 5

Immediately transfer it to another bowl. Let it cool partially.
If you are using powdered sugar, add it at this stage.*

  6. 6

Knead the dough gently and divide the mixture in 8 equal portions(about 15 gm each).

  7. 7

Start shaping them manually. Use a fork to make those lines.
You can microwave this mixture for 7-8 seconds if it becomes difficult to shape.*
