There are two versions of why the statue is like this: the first says that the matriarch of the family, Teresa Feldevert, was such a terrible witch that her evil even affected the statue over her grave. Another story says that when Teresa died, her husband promised never to sleep with any other woman, but over time he met someone with whom he wanted to resume his life and slept with her.
