Mock Shiruko! With Kidney Beans

I had some shiratamako anyway so I decided to make some instant shiruko out of kidney beans to go with it.
Making anko from adzuki beans usually takes around a day so the flavour of this shiruko is a bit different. But on the other hand it has a less characteristic flavor that may be easier for shiruko novices to enjoy.

This is mock shiruko so I only added a little bit of sugar.
I blended my kidney beans in the food processor until they were still a little lumpy. Recipe by Brandy

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 70 gramsSugar
  2. 200 gramsKidney beans (canned)
  3. 1/4 tspSalt
  4. 150 mlWater

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Drain and rinse the canned kidney beans. Add all of the ingredients to a saucepan and leave the mixture to simmer for 10 minutes.

    When the mixture has cooled, pour it into a food processor (don't drain it) and blend it for 1-2 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add the mixture back to a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Then it's ready to serve ♪
