I love Texas toast, but don't care to buy it frozen. This is just a simple recipe that I like to whip up to go alongside soups or pastas. This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled for larger families.

Ingredients

6 pieces
  1. 1French baguette loaf
  2. 3 tbsp.olive oil
  3. 3 clovesgarlic, minced
  4. 1/4 tsp.Italian seasoning
  5. 1/4 cupshredded parmesan cheese

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

With a sharp, serrated bread knife, slice the French loaf into slices, about half an inch to an inch or so thick apiece, whatever size you prefer. For this recipe I usually like to just slice 6 slices at a time and store the remainder of the loaf for other uses...but if doubling or tripling the recipe, you can easily use the whole loaf.

  2. 2

Set oven to broil. Line a baking tray with foil and place the sliced bread on top of it. Set aside.

  3. 3

In a small skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and Italian seasoning. Cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, then remove from heat.

  4. 4

Use a small spoon to spoon even amounts of the oil and garlic over the bread slices and use the back of the spoon to spread around.

  5. 5

Top the bread with the shredded parmesan cheese.

  6. 6

Place the baking tray into the oven for 2-5 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the edges are golden. Keep an eye on them, they can burn easily.

  7. 7

    Serve immediately and enjoy!

I love to bake and to try out new recipes! I'm always on the lookout for simple dinners for busy weeknights. A lot of the recipes I post on here are ones I've found on Pinterest or from different bloggers, and that I've tried and really enjoyed, but I always reference to where I got the recipe from in the recipe description and the pictures are my own. If there's no source listed, then it's a rare recipe that I came up with. I have two wonderful kids and I hope to pass on my love of cooking and baking to them.
