Easy Chicken Curry (Addictive)

This curry is easy to make with just a few ingredients. Cleanup is super easy too. It was featured in the May 10, 2007 release of 'Highly Praised Side Dishes'.
The origin of this recipe
I adapted a recipe taught to me by my sister. Since then, I make either this smooth curry or the thick curry with store-bought roux depending on my mood. (Sometimes I crave the thick curry...)
The origin of the name... An ex-boyfriend asked for the recipe right after we broke up. He suddenly craved it. I kindly shared it with him, hence the bold name of this recipe.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preparation: Marinate the chicken in yogurt (3 hours to half a day). ★Using a double-layered plastic bag is convenient as it saves space in the fridge.
- 2
Melt the butter and sauté the red chili peppers.
- 3
Add the chopped garlic and grated ginger, and sauté quickly, being careful not to burn them. (It's ready when fragrant)
- 4
Add the chopped onion and sauté until it turns a light caramel color (about 10 minutes), then add the curry powder and sauté until the powdery texture is gone (about 1 minute).
- 5
Add the drained canned tomatoes and sauté until the moisture is gone. (If using whole tomatoes, crush them while sautéing)
- 6
Add the chicken along with all the yogurt and sauté briefly.
- 7
Add water and salt, and simmer on low heat for 40 minutes to 1 hour. (If the curry seems too thin, let it sit overnight; it will thicken considerably)
- 8
Finally, add the Worcestershire sauce and bring to a boil to finish. (Remove the red chili peppers to avoid mistaking them for tomatoes)
- 9
Bonus ①: This is the curry powder I use. (Indian Foods) It contains 15 different spices, is reasonably priced, and highly recommended.
- 10
Bonus ②: Stores selling the curry powder →→ Kaldi, Daimaru, Meidi-ya, Seijo Ishii, QUEENS ISETAN (not all stores carry it)
- 11
Even 'Shokotan' has made this recipe♫
For more details, check Shokotan's blog from November 11, 2011. - 12
Pressure Cooker Version ①: From step 7, apply pressure. Use a pressure cooker from the start. Use 2 cups of water.
- 13
Pressure Cooker Version ②: If the curry seems too thin, after releasing the pressure, slightly offset the lid and heat for a bit (10 to 20 minutes).

Healthy Chicken & Veggie Curry Healthy Chicken & Veggie Curry
I like chicken curry and I've been making this for a long time. I think it's healthy as you don't use much store-bought curry roux. If you don't sauté the onions until lightly browned, you can use 1 large onion instead.Adjust the amount of curry powder to taste. There are some curry powder blends that you don't have to roast. The curry powder turns bitter if you roast it too much, so be careful. Adding the potato makes curry to thicken, so you can make this curry without store-bought curry roux. But the store-bought curry roux adds richness to the curry and it tastes better. Recipe by Yuuyuu0221 cookpad.japan -
