The origin of this recipe
I bought cabbage and ground meat to make stuffed cabbage rolls. But it seemed a bit tedious, so I tried making it without rolling, and it was a big success. It became a popular tomato stew in our home.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Finely chop the onion and roughly chop the cabbage.
- 2
In a bowl, soak the breadcrumbs in milk. Add the other ◆ ingredients to the bowl and mix well by hand.
- 3
Line a frying pan with a small amount of oil (do not turn on the heat yet), and shape the mixture from step 2 into balls about 1.2 inches (3 cm) in diameter and place them in the pan.
- 4
Heat the frying pan over medium heat and brown the surface of the meatballs by rolling them around.
- 5
Once browned, add water and consomme, bring to a boil, and skim off any foam.
- 6
Place the cabbage and diced tomatoes on top of the meatballs (just place them without mixing).
- 7
Cover and simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
- 8
Remove the lid, add sugar, ketchup, and sauce, and mix everything together (you can add garlic powder if you like).
- 9
Cover again and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes or until desired consistency.
- 10
Taste and if needed, add a little salt and pepper. Top with melting cheese, cover, and once the cheese has melted, it's ready to serve ♫

Tomato Stew with Cabbage and Meatballs Tomato Stew with Cabbage and Meatballs
The cabbage is sweet and tender! Kids love it too. It's so simple, yet my husband thinks it takes about 5 hours to make, and he loves it. The origin of this recipe: I had a lot of cabbage at home. I wanted to make something with flavors and textures that kids would enjoy. I didn't have much time, so I wanted to create a rich flavor easily. The measurements are easy to remember too! *セレン*Translated from Cookpad Japan -

Lamb Meatball & Root Vegetable Stew with Drop Biscuits Lamb Meatball & Root Vegetable Stew with Drop Biscuits
The list of ingredients is long, and there are quite a few steps in comparison to most of my recipes, but this is extremely easy to make!I had ground lamb in my freezer so decided to do a twist on lamb stew. It's different than the norm, but still very tasty. I made my butterless drop biscuits to plop on top which turned out to be an excellent idea so I am including that in the process. You don't HAVE to do that part though. StephieCanCook -
Meltingly Soft Cabbage and Meatballs Stewed in Tomatoes Meltingly Soft Cabbage and Meatballs Stewed in Tomatoes
I bought a cabbage and minced meat meaning to make cabbage rolls, but I couldn't be bothered with the amount of work, so I tried making it without wrapping the minced meat. It was a huge success! This is a popular tomato stew at my house.* I recommend using a large pan since there's a lot of cabbage.* Since cheese is added at the last step, I don't add salt at Step 9. Add a little salt if you'd like it to be saltier. You can add garlic powder. For serving 4 to 5. Recipe by Komomomomo cookpad.japan -
