Mulo Diye Muger Dal (Moong Dal / Split Green Gram With Radish - Bengali Style) Mulo Diye Muger Dal (Moong Dal / Split Green Gram With Radish - Bengali Style)
#boxweek19 #radish - This is a great comfort food and a simple everyday dal (lentil curry) prepared in a Bengali home. It is basically moong dal (split green gram) cooked along with radish. Lauki / bottle gourd can also be substituted. Dry roasting the moong dal prior to cooking brings out the true flavour and taste. It is traditionally relished with hot steamed rice and a dash of lime. Not to forget some aloo bhaja (potato fry) or papad to go with it. Bethica Das -
Lau diye Bhaja Muger Dal (Split Green Gram & Bottle Gourd Curry - Bengali style) Lau diye Bhaja Muger Dal (Split Green Gram & Bottle Gourd Curry - Bengali style)
#Dal - Dal-Chawal is an ultimate comfort food for many. At times we just can't do without it. A simple homemade dal served along with plain steamed rice is just out of this world. A dollop of extra ghee / a dash of lime (I prefer the latter) and accompanied with some papad or potato fry is something irresistible. What can one ask for? End of the day this is pure divine. You need nothing else. Coming to the recipe, this is my version of an absolutely homemade style no frills dal that is part of a daily menu in many Bengali bones. And this is how I prepare it. This particular recipe can be made on it's own or can be prepared with some veggies of you choice added to it. So I have made use of few chopped bottle gourd and with a simple tempering of cumin seeds (panch phoron can be substituted), bay leaves, ginger and asafoetida. A tsp. of ghee added to the end product enhances the flavour and is best enjoyed with hot steamed rice. Bethica Das -

#greenveg - Here is a simple, yet delicious methi leaves stir fry with split moong dal. I cooked it with a tempering of panch phoron in mustard oil. I also added some vadi / dried lentil dumplings to add a crunch to the dish. I finished it off with kasundi for a mustardy taste and flavour. It is prepared dry to enjoy either with plain steamed rice or with chapatis. Bethica Das -
