Ingredients

240 mins
  1. 1 tbspoil
  2. 2 mediumonions chopped
  3. 1 kgbraising beef cubed
  4. to tastesalt pepper
  5. 500 mldark ale (beer)
  6. 250 mlbeef stock made with stock cube
  7. 2 tbsptomato paste
  8. to tastemixed herbs
  9. 6carrots chopped
  10. 2parsnips or any other root veg you want
  11. 1bay leaf
  12. 1 smallamount of sugar to taste
  13. 10mushrooms chopped up

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Chop cook onions in little oil and add to casserole dish

  2. 2

    Cube and brown beef in same dish as onions, season with salt and pepper

  3. 3

    Add all the other ingredients to casserole pot and cook low for three to four hours till thick and nice.

  4. 4

    Enjoy with mash or roasted potatoes

  5. 5

    Can be cooked in slow cooker or oven or on stove top
