Also known as white sauce, is a French sauce made of butter,flour and milk. It is used as base sauce for soo many dishes. Goes well with pasta dishes , thickener for soups and soo on. Its very easy to whip up.

Cooking Instructions

Heat a sauce pan, Add in butter.

When melted, pour flour and mix and let cook for 1 minute stirring constantly.

Reduce heat, and gradually add in milk. Whisking to prevent lumps.

Then add pinch of salt,cayenne pepper,black pepper & chives.

Stir and cook for 1 min. It can be thinned with splash of milk when too thick.

Bechamel sauce is ready.

Also, by making it in the microwave, it doesn't burn, it has a nice color, and it doesn't dirty many dishes making it quite handy! For the grams part of measurement, you can convert it as necessary. You can use 10 g flour, 10 g butter, and 150 ml milk (you can even adjust the amount of milk too). It'll go well in many different recipes.Rather than make a regular basic sauce, I seasoned this with consommé and other flavours. If you don't cook it enough or cook it too much, you can put it right with more milk, water, and flour. If you half the amount of butter used, this becomes a low calorie recipe. And so I tried it out.It was really easy to make the sauce this way. But, I was amazed that it also eliminated any floury smell or taste too. Even though I didn't cook the flour for a long time as cookbooks say you should.If you are making a lot of sauce, increase the microwaving time in step 1. Add 10 seconds at a time while observing the flour, and take it out and mix it up. This way it's less likely to cook unevenly.Add the milk, a little at a time, and mix well between additions.
