Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 8 slicemultigrain bread
  2. 3 slicewhite bread
  3. 5 largeeggs
  4. 1/2 cupmilk
  5. 1butter
  6. 1 cupcaster sugar
  7. 1/2 cupdried dates
  8. 1 tspvanilla extract
  9. 1cream

Cooking Instructions

    Preheat oven to 180 (350/360)

  2. 2

    Remove crusts from all bread and butter each slice on one side

  3. 3

    Cut bread into triangles and place in a baking dish butterside up

  4. 4

    Sprinkle 3/4 sugar liberally all over buttered bread

  5. 5

    Chop up dried dates and sprinkle amongst the bread pieces

  6. 6

    Beat eggs and milk together add vanilla extract

  7. 7

    Pour over bread and dates do all pieces are soaked.

    Cover and allow to stand for around 10 mins so that the bread absorbs the liquid

  9. 9

    Bake in oven at 180 (350/360) for around 30 - 35 mins or until golden brown

  10. 10

    Sprinkle remaining sugar on top

  11. 11

    Serve with cream

I love to cook and entertain and I tend to adapt recipes to suit my own tastes and rarely stick to precise measurements so "traditional" rarely comes into my repertoire. I am passionate about my food so if something doesn't work for me....well....I don't like it - I'm not fussy but I like food to taste great
