However uncommon it may sound , it is a traditional Gujarati vegetable that is served at weddings during winter. It is a spicy green garlic ko vegetable muthiya cooked along with 3 types of beans i.e. valor dana (broad beans), tuver lilva dana ( pigeon peas ) & fresh green peas.
This is a winter speciality when all the vegetables are freshly available .
This is one of the most comforting combinations on cold winter nights.

Wash & string the broad beans (valor) & remove the beans (dana).Do not throw away the valor. You can use it with some other vegetables eg. Valor-Ringan nu Shaak. The same way remove pigeon peas & green peas. Now sprinkle salt & a pinch of cooking soda. Rest for 5 minutes.

Once the pressure is released, open the pressure cooker & remove the danas in a bowl.Keep the bowl open, do not cover the danas or they will discolor.

Batata Nu Shaak Batata Nu Shaak
#mysterybox1Bataata Nu Shaak is what a potato gravy vegetable is called in Gujarati. This is a very delicious vegetable which we learnt from our Gujarati neighbour many years back. The use of crushed roasted groundnuts gives it a unique flavour and being a no onion no garlic recipe, it can be relished by even those who refrain from having onions and garlic! Broad Bean & Sakura Shrimp Rice Broad Bean & Sakura Shrimp Rice
This is a popular spring dish in Japan. It's only season with salt and sake (rice wine) so you can enjoy the fragrance from the beans and shrimp. You can use green peas instead of the broad beans, or use other kinds of small shrimp instead of the sakura shrimp. Green peas can be cooked together with the rice, but may not produce a bright green color in that case. (Gluten-Free) Miyuki Suyari -
Valor Papdi | Spicy Flat Beans Valor Papdi | Spicy Flat Beans
#greenveg vegetable spicy flat beans papdi also known as flat green beans is traditionally made in Gujarati Cusine. Strong flavour of Carom seeds and combination of garlic and jaggery makes it unique in it's own. I have made this today with my own twist of strong nutty flavour of coconut and sesame seeds which gives it a distinct punch in every bite. Just did an experiment with unusual combinations and turned out to be extra delicious. Hina Purswani -
