Sweet Butter Gorditas

I love those mini gorditas sold outside churches at fairs—the ones wrapped in tissue paper. These are large-sized because making tiny ones is too tedious for me. Enjoy, beauties! 🍪

I love those mini gorditas sold outside churches at fairs—the ones wrapped in tissue paper. These are large-sized because making tiny ones is too tedious for me. Enjoy, beauties! 🍪
Steps
- 1
Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl.
- 2
Knead the dough well until it’s very soft and slightly greasy, but not sticky. Shape the dough into balls the size you want your gorditas. I made mine medium-sized, but you can make them any size you like.
- 3
Once all the balls are formed, flatten them with your hands to shape the gorditas. They’re now ready to cook on a griddle or skillet.
- 4
When they start to puff up, let them cook for 30 seconds, then flip the gordita. Keep the heat low so they cook through without burning. Wait two minutes, then flip again. The gordita is done when the edges are firm, not soft or mushy. Once the edges are firm, remove from the skillet and cook the next batch.
- 5
That’s it—your gorditas are ready! Enjoy!
