Full of flavour cumin or jeera rice is perfect with most daals and is popular in most north Indian homes.

Soak the rice for half an hour. Drain and set aside.

Heat ghee in a pot. Add the spices and cumin seeds to it. When the cumin seeds splutter add the green chilli and drained rice. Saute the rice for a few minutes.

Add 2 cups water and salt to the rice and mix. Bring the rice to a quick boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook till the water has evaporated.
