Ikima or tsatsafa (crunchy pancake)

This is a local snack particular to the North part of the country. It's very nice and gives that crunchy sound as u eat it. With addition of extra sugar for the batter it can serve as dessert. Really 😋

This is a local snack particular to the North part of the country. It's very nice and gives that crunchy sound as u eat it. With addition of extra sugar for the batter it can serve as dessert. Really 😋
Steps
- 1
In a bowl of water(not much) add sugar and allow to dissolve
- 2
In another bowl sieve in flour to remove particle, pour in the dissolved sugar solution and mix with hand or mixer to form batter (like that of pancake)
- 3
Put oil on fire in pan to heat on medium heat and put the tool (that will give the shape & design) inside to heat up
- 4
Remove the tool and shake a bit to reduce oil, damp it into the batter and remove immediately into the heating pan of oil, shake gently so the snack will come out as the shape of the tool
- 5
Allow to deep fry as you turn the side until golden brown
- 6
Like this (big size)
- 7
Remove from oil into colander to drain oil in it
- 8
Continue same process until you finish the batter
- 9
Note: it depends on the size of the tool. It could be small, medium or big
- 10
Can be served with any beverage
