Horse gram is known as Kalthi in Gujarati, Kulthi in Hindi & Kollu in Tamil. Horse gram is a low profile legume which is the staple food for horses and cattle. Though it is low profile & used less by majority of people , it is one of the richest vegetarian source of protein. It is also high in iron and calcium . It is low in fat and high in carbohydrate content.
This super food has following scientifically proven facts and more positive effects are under research.
It is - anti oxidant, anti bacterial, anti fungal and also anti hyperglycemic. If we compare it's nutritional value, it has 3 times more calories than chicken, 2 times more protein then eggs, 10 times more calcium than milk and same amount of phosphorus like in soya.

Ingredients

25 minutes
4 persons
  • 1 cuphorse gram (soaked for 4-5 hours)
  • 1/4 cupsemolina
  • 1/4 cupoats
  • 1/4 cuprice flour
  • 1/4 cupcurd
  • 1carrot (grated)
  • 1/4 cupfinely chopped coriander
  • 2onions (grated)
  • 1 tbspchilli-garlic-ginger paste
  • To tasteSalt
  • As neededOil for cooking

Steps

  1. 1

    Grind soaked horse gram and add rice flour,semolina,oats and curd. Mix well.

    Now add grated onion, carrot, coriander, chilli-garlic-ginger paste, salt and mix well.

    Now heat non stick skillet and pour one ladle full of batter and spread it, add few drops of oil on sides and let it cook. Once it cooks from one side, flip it and let it cool from second side. If needed add few drops of oil.

    Serve hot with curd.
