First, boil the split pigeon peas with salt until soft. In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Add the ginger-garlic-chili paste and mix well.

Add the green onions and tomatoes, mix well, and cook until softened.

In another pan, heat oil and add all the spices and Kashmiri red chili powder. Mix well, then add the cooked onion-tomato mixture and the boiled pigeon peas. Stir everything together thoroughly.

Add lemon juice, sugar, and chopped cilantro. Mix well. The totha is now ready. Serve it with bread.
