Steps

Gather all the ingredients

To a small saucepan, add turmeric, ginger, lemon juice and leftover lemon rind, cloves, cardamom, black pepper and water.

Bring to a simmer (not a boil) over medium heat for 5 minutes, then switch off the flame.

Add the maple syrup or honey, I have added honey.

Now strain over serving glasses or mugs and serve hot or warm.

If the tonic is too potent for you, dilute with more hot/warm water.

Can Store the leftover tonic in the refrigerator up to 2-3 days. Reheat until just warm and enjoy
