"The best smell is bread, the best taste is salt, the best love is that of a mother." (Graham Greene)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 430°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large, deep bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir well to combine all the ingredients. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk.
- 2
Stir with a fork or spoon. When it becomes too difficult to stir, use your hands. Shape the dough into a ball and place it on the baking sheet.
- 3
Flatten the dough with your palm to form a round loaf about 1 1/4 inches (3 cm) high. Cut a cross on top and sprinkle a little flour over it.
- 4
Place a small bowl of water covered with aluminum foil in the oven to add some moisture while baking. Put the baking sheet in the middle of the oven and bake for 35 minutes.
- 5
After that time, remove the bread from the baking sheet and let it cool.
