Yam balls
Not your regular yamballs...crispy on the outside and super soft and tender on the inside😋
Steps
- 1
Boil the yam until soft (but not mushy) and drain. While the yam is boiling, heat up about 2 tbsp of oil in a pan and brown the minced beef. Add all the herbs, spices and seasoning in.
- 2
Once browned, add the pepper mix and continue to cook for a further 5 mins. Turn off the heat and allow it to cool down a bit.
- 3
Mash up the boiled yam using whatever tool you prefer. You want it all broken up and crumbly but not completely smooth like pounded yam or mashed potatoes.
- 4
Add the minced sauce to the yam and mix until everything is integrated. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Rub a bit of oil between your palms and using a small icecream scoop or tablespoon, scoop up the yam mixture into your hands and roll into golf sized balls.
- 5
Heat up a pan with oil(about 2-3 inches of oil). Beat the eggs in a bowl and set aside. Coat the yam ball with the egg, followed by a bit of ground golden morn, then fry in the oil until all sides are golden brown. Drain on some paper towel to remove the excess oil. Serve with a side of chili sauce. I served mine with pepper soup. Enjoy!
