In a large bowl, take oil, add salt, ajwain, soda and water to it and whisk for a minute.

Add gram flour gradually to it and keep stirring. Make a soft dough. Add as much flour as can be added to the water. Whisk well to avoid any lumps.

Use the large-holed mould and grease with oil. Fill the dough and press in a circular motion in hot oil. Let it fry on low flame for a minute. Flip in between. Do not over fry. Gathiya is ready. Store in an air tight container.
