Heat the milk to about 104°F (40°C), then mix it into the egg mixture (5 whole eggs and 4 yolks) that has been whisked together with the vanilla extract.

Pour the mixture into 25 small plastic flan molds, cover with lids, and steam over medium heat.

After steaming for about 25-30 minutes, turn off the heat and let the flan sit in the steamer for 1 hour. Then refrigerate before serving.
