Soak tamaring in a cup of water. Grind garlic cumin red chilli and pepper, coriander leaves to a coarse mixture. Add tomato to it and give it a pulse.

Add oil in a pan. Once it is hot, add mustard seeds. Once mustard splutters, add the grinded mixture and cook for a while.

Add turmeric powder and cook it. Add the tamarind water and cook it in sim.

Cook the rasam for a while and turn it off just before it starts to boil.
