Once upon a time I watched someone put black pepper in a dessert. I was about to protest, then I remembered that I'm a crazy kitchen scientist who rubbishes rules at every turn, so I shut up. I'm glad I did, because the dessert turned out great! So now I'm at home, bored on new year's eve, and I decide to do something interesting. Got some dessicated coconut lying around and the only spices around are cloves and black pepper. Why not? I ask myself. Long story short, these kashata are delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 cupdessicated coconut
  • 1/2 cupsugar
  • 1/2 cupwater
  • 1/2 teaspoonfreshly ground clove powder
  • 1/2 teaspoonblack pepper powder
  • Pinchsalt
  • Little oil

Steps

    Boil the water with the sugar, spices and salt until it becomes a thick syrup.

  2. 2

    Put in the coconut and mix thoroughly.

  3. 3

    Quickly spread on an oiled flat surface, eg metal tray and spread it flat.

  4. 4

    Let it cool, then cut into pieces and serve.
