Rich Tiramisu with Cream Cheese

I love tiramisu and have been making this dessert for over 15 years. I sometimes change the amount of egg or the type of cheese.

This recipe uses a little less egg yolk than regular tiramisu, but the flavor really doesn't change.

Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 200 gramsCream cheese
  2. 2Egg yolk
  3. 70 gramsSugar
  4. 200 mlHeavy cream
  5. 50 ml★Espresso or Strong coffee
  6. 1 tbsp★Sugar
  7. 1 tbsp★Coffee Liqueur or Rum
  8. 1enough to fit the pie dish. Sponge cake or Castella
  9. 1Cocoa powder

Cooking Instructions

    Fit the sponge cake in the pie dish and brush on the ★ syrup ingredients on top so that it soaks in. Put the cream cheese in a bowl and cream with a whisk.

    In a separate bowl, combine the egg yolk and sugar. Whip until it becomes white and then heat by using a double boiler.

    Add Step 2 to the cream cheese from Step 1 little by little as you mix it well with a whisk.

    In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

    Add the heavy cream in 2-3 batches to Step 3 and use a rubber spatula to gently mix it in.

    Spread the cream from Step 5 over the sponge cake from Step 1 and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

    Dust with cocoa powder to finish, serve on a plate and enjoy with ice cream.

    If you use a deep pan, you can make a very authentic double layer tiramisu.
