I had a sudden craving for steamed cheese bread, but it was too much of a hassle to go to the convenience store. So I made some myself with what I had in my kitchen.

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 4 sliceSliced cheese
  2. 25 gramsMilk
  3. 50 gramsCake flour
  4. 30 gramsSugar
  5. 3 gramsBaking powder
  6. 1Egg
  7. 10 gramsVegetable oil

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Put the shredded sliced cheese and milk in a heatproof bowl and microwave for 1 minute unwrapped to melt the cheese.

  2. 2

The cheese will melt when you mix it, so it doesn't matter if it's not completely melted. Just as long as it doesn't harden, it's fine.

  3. 3

Put the cake flour, sugar and baking powder in a bowl and mix with a whisk. There's no need to sift it as it won't go lumpy here.

  4. 4

Add the cheese from Step 1, the egg and vegetable oil to the bowl from Step 3, and mix with a whisk until it is no longer powdery.

  5. 5

Pour it into two containers, put the lids on, and microwave for 1 minute to finish.

  6. 6

It might make a noise as it cooks, but don't worry about that.

  7. 7

You can enjoy it piping hot, or let it cool down first. If it hardens, gently heat it up and it will be fluffy again.

Can I steam it instead of using microwave? If yes, steam how many minutes? Thank you.
