I went with a quick version here using instant mashed potatoes, but it's even better with homemade mashed potatoes.

Prepare the instant mashed potatoes with the milk, following the package instructions. Season to taste.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Slice the hot dog sausages into rounds and divide them among four ramekins. Sprinkle with chopped chives.

Crack one egg into each ramekin, then sprinkle with garlic powder.

Cover with mashed potatoes and top with shredded Swiss cheese.

Bake for about 15 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown.

Serve hot.
