This is a popular recipe of ghughni or chat from the Indian state of Uttar pradesh and is very yummy and easy to cook with least basic ingredients.

Take either the yellow dry peas or the green one which one is easily available. Clean, wash and soak the dry peas for 7-8 hours or overnight. Then add oil in a pressure cooker once get heated add all the soaked peas and add salt and turmeric powder. Mix those up very well. If you will soak for a longer period of time you will not need baking soda for it to get tender.

First coarsely grind the red chillies with garlic cloves and cumin seeds then transfer them to a bowl and in the same grinder coarsely grind the tomatoes and onions.

Add the tomatoes and onions mixture first to the cooking peas and mix well add some water to it then add the red chilli, garlic and cumin mix to it and give a good stir. Once start to boil cover it and pressure cook it until get completely tender. Don't over cook it the peas should be intact but get completely tender.

Serve it adding finely chopped or diced tomatoes, onions, green chillies, chopped coriander leaves and sprinkle some chaat masala to it. Serve it hot in breakfast or as a snack. Enjoy it with your loved ones.
