Calzone is essentially stuffed Italian bread with an irresistible stuffing of veggies or meat. This unique recipe of calzone is stuffed with sweet eggless custard with cream and baked to perfection. First, dissolve the yeast and sugar in 1/2 cup warm milk and keep covered in a warm place to bloom for 10 minutes. There will be bubbles on top and the mixture will have risen.

Sieve the flour. Add the bloomed yeast, salt, and another tsp of sugar. Start kneading the dough by the pull, stretch, and gather method. Use milk as required.

After 2 minutes, add the olive oil, and knead well. Keep covered with a cling wrap in a warm place for 2 hours.

Till then prepare custard with the given ingredients. Boil milk and cream. Add the custard paste, sugar and keep stirring while it cooks. Make it thick and cool by keeping it on the counter immersed in a bowl of cold water.

After 2 hours, take out the dough punch the air out and knead well for 5 minutes.

Now take out thick balls of dough and roll them out to a thick disc on a floored surface.

Place 1 scooped spoon of the prepared custard, sone candied cherries and turn the edge over it. Make a halfmoon-shaped bread and seal the edges well.

Place on a lined and greased baking tray and cover with a wet cloth to rise in a dark and warm place for 1 hour.

After 1 hour, preheat the oven to 180 °c for 10 minutes. Brush the calzone with milk all over. Place in oven to bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the bread is golden on top.

Serve warm with dollops of butter and garnished with cherries on top. Enjoy!
