Ingredients

4 people
  • 50 gms (1/4 cup )Samak Chawal
  • 1/2 cupWater
  • 100 ml+ 900 ml Full Cream Milk (used separately)
  • 5-6 strands(Optional) Saffron/Kesar
  • 75 gm [1/3 cup] Sugar
  • 3-4 dropsKewra Essence (Optional)
  • As RequiredChopped nuts (pista, almonds)

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash Samak chawal and let it soak in water for 15 minutes. Strain the water and dry the rice on a soft cotton cloth for around 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    After 30 minutes (when it has dried properly), grind it and make a fine powder. In 100 ml MILK, add this powder and mix it in well.

  3. 3

    In a heavy bottom pan, heat 900 ml MILK. Add the Samak Chawal Mixture into the 900 ml boiling milk.

  4. 4

    Add saffron and stir it continuously. Once it thickens, add SUGAR, and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Turn off the stove and add KEWRA ESSENCE.

  5. 5

    Pour in serving bowls and garnish each bowl with chopped nuts (pista, almonds). Let it set in the fridge and serve chilled.
