Sabudana Chakri

Sabudana Chakri is potato and sago wafers prepared with potatoes and sago as the name suggests. It is a very popular snack from Gujarat. It can be prepared and stored for the whole year. This Chakri is dried completely and then stored in an air tight container to fry it later whenever it is needed. It can be a great snack with tea or coffee.

Wash and soak sabudana for 6 - 8 hours in just enough water to cover the sabudana. It is best to soak it at night so that it can be used in the morning.

Now steam sabudana in a steamer for 15 minutes.

Boil potatoes. Peel and grate it. Add ginger paste, green chilli paste, cumin, salt and lemon juice to it. Now add sabudana to it and mix everything very well.

Now fill the mixture in the chakri machine and make long stripes on a big plastic or cotton cloth. Use all the mixture in the same way. Let it dry in the sun for 2 to 3 days. You can even dry it under the fan for a whole day and then put it in the sun for one or two days. When it is completely dry, store it in an airtight container.

Fry it in hot oil. Serve it with tea or coffee as a snack.
