First wash the lentils thoroughly with warm water. Now, add lentils and 1.5 glasses of water to the cooker and boil for 3 whistles.

Soak imli in water for half an hour. Then strain it. Add red chilli powder, cumin, turmeric, sambar spices and salt to this water and mix.

Now, add 1.5 glasses of water to the boiled lentils and mix it. Then add vegetables, jaggery and masala-imli water, stir and blow 1 whistle in the cooker again.

When the cooker cools down, open it, add curry leaves and let it boil over low heat. Now, heat oil for tadka, add red chillies, mustard seeds, cumin and asafoetida add to the dal and turn off the gas flame after 5 mins. So Sambhar is ready.
