Traditional Popular South Indian cuisine savoury snacks Appe prepared from whole white urad dal and parboiled red rice, flavoured with onion , curry leaves, cashewnuts and spices.
Steps

Wash whole white urad 4-5 times in water and soak for 4 hours. Wash parboiled red rice and soak for 4 hours.

Discard water from soaked urad dal and parboiled red rice. Grind in Wet grinder with water as required to make dosa like batter. Keep covered and let it ferment overnight or for 10-12 hours.

At the time of making appe. Add chopped onion, curry leaves, green chilli, grated ginger, tumeric powder,salt and cashew nuts pieces. Add baking soda. Mix well.

Heat appe griddle. Pour little oil in each cavity of appe griddle. Add a pinch of sesame seeds in oil. Pour a big spoonful of prepared Urad-RedRice batter in each cavity. Cover and cook for 4 -5 minutes on medium flame till lower side turn crispy golden.

Flip and cook another lower side turn crispy golden. Similarly prepare all appe with remaining batter.

Serve Relish Delicious Hot Urad-RedRice Appe with coconut corainder chutney.
