Soak mixed Dal for 6-7 hours and then pressure cook in sufficient water.

Assemble ingredients

In moderately heated pan add oil add bay leaf + cumin seeds and allow to crackle. Then add onion + green chilli and sauté till onion is golden yellow.

Now add tomatoes and sauté for 1 minute, then add all spices and sauté till spices turn aromatic. It takes around 2-3 minutes.

Then add boiled Dal along with water and cook for 3-4 minutes. Additional water should be added at this stage as per gravy consistency requirement.

Add Kasuri Methi and cook further for 2-3 minutes. Dish is ready.

Serve with Onion rings and enjoy with Puri / paratha/ naan.
