A traditional dish made in many Arab Countries especially in Ramadan. It's an important one in Middle Eastern cuisine. A super delicious and a healthy one on any given day. It's absolutely easy and effortlessly done without loads of spices either. It has just Black Pepper and Salt for the spice along with Bottle Gourd and Lamb bone-in. That's it. Nothing much goes into this preparation.
And needless to say, it's one of our Prophet's favourite food as well. He was always fond of simple but healthy food. This one was eaten with some freshly done Bread with Barley or Jau. And any and every Vegetable from the Gourd family can be used like Pumpkin, Bottle Gourd, Butternut Squash etc. You will love it's simplicity. And it's delicious too. Basically it's a thin Soup with minimal ingredients. That's it. Tharid or Thareed or Tashreeb or Trid or Taghrib, known by many names, but it's largely a Bread Soup with pieces of it in it's bowl.
Do try this for your families and relish it's superb taste and texture. I bet you will agree with me. Let's get started.

Steps
- 1
Add everything to a large pot and allow it to come to a rolling boil on a high heat at first. As it starts boiling vigorously, lower the heat and simmer. The important point to be noted here is that it should be slow cooked.
- 2
Without a lid on, keep simmering on a low to medium-high heat. Check in between but not much as there is already water in it. Let it cook and release it's juices as well as get reduced naturally.
- 3
As already mentioned, it is a thin soup. So if one litre of water remains, that's more than enough for a family of five. You can definitely check for salt and pepper. Adjust accordingly.
- 4
If desired, a little of chopped coriander leaves can be added. That's it. All ready and done to be enjoyed with some freshly baked bread at home or store bought whichever is more convenient.
- 5
Now for the serving suggestions, one can either add pieces of bread directly to the soup and eat. Or can just dip and eat as well. It's one's own choice. Either ways, you will just love it. Filling and a comfort food by all means. Healthy Eating!
