Fill the pot with 1cm of water.

Remove the amount of eggs needed from the refrigerator. Lightly crack the bottom of the eggs with the back of a spoon. Place in the pot.

Cover with a lid and bring the water to a boil on medium heat. Boil for 5 minutes. Absolutely do not remove the lid.

Turn off the heat. If you want soft-boiled eggs, remove the lid and cool the eggs under running water as you peel the shells. If you want hard-boiled eggs, leave the lid on and wait for a short time until done.
