5-Minute Egg & Basil Toast

When I put an egg on toast, it often runs over the side, so I decided to create a little well in the bread this time.

Take your time when you're tearing the well. Once you get used to it, you'll be able to make it faster.

This toast tastes great topped with cheese, but since you're using raw egg, it's better to lengthen the cooking time if you use it.

Krazy Salt tastes good but because I wanted to smell the basil I used regular cooking salt. Recipe by Dorado-ra

Ingredients

  1. 1 sliceSliced pullman loaf (one loaf cut vertically into 6 slices)
  2. 1Egg
  3. 1Salt (or Krazy Salt)
  4. 1Dried basil
  5. 1Coarsely ground black pepper

Steps

  1. 1

    Tear a well into the center of the bread (make quite a deep well, but not deep enough to make a hole in the bread). Put the torn out bread aside for later.

    Crack an egg into the well.

    Sprinkle some salt over the egg and beat the egg gently, being careful not to tear a hole.

    Place the torn out bread from earlier on top of the egg and mix it in a little. Sprinkle the basil and coarse black pepper over the top, and toast it for 3 minutes.

    It's done The toast should be browned quite well and crispy.
