Mongolian Beef Rice Bowl

I love Mongolian beef, so I've been trying to find an easy recipe that taste like I like. This one is pretty close. But it seems to be a fine line between the proper flavor, and too salty. Using broth to replace some of the salty soy sauce, balances the salty and flavor out, I think.

  6. 1 teaspoonhot sauce (optional)
  7. Sauce
  8. 1 tablespoonoyster sauce
  9. 2 tablespoonssoy sauce
  10. 2 tablespoonsbroth or water
  11. 1 teaspoondark soy sauce or broth or water
  12. 1 teaspoonsesame oil
  13. 2 tablespoonssugar
  14. 1ground black pepper to taste
  15. Main
  16. 1 poundbeef
  17. 1 inchfresh ginger
  18. 4 clovesgarlic
  19. oil for cooking
  20. 4 stalksgreen onion

Cooking Instructions

20 minutes
  1. 1

Slice, your meat, however you wish it. I like thin sliced. Place in a bowl.

  2. 2

Add your corn starch to the meat

  3. 3

Add the rest of the marinade to the meat

  4. 4

Mix it all together, let it sit at least 30 minutes

  5. 5

If making rice, some where in here is a good place to start it. Once you start cooking the meat, it is only 15 minutes, give or take a few minutes, until done.

  6. 6

    Mince your ginger and garlic

  7. 7

Heat a skillet/wok/stir-fry pan on medium, put about a tablespoon oil in, add your ginger and garlic. Stir-fry for 1 minute.

  8. 8

Add meat and stir fry until half cooked, then add sauce. Stir the sauce in.

  9. 9

Clean and cut your green onions, about 2 inch pieces, add to the meat. Doing it at this point gives the meat sauce a couple minutes to cook together.

  10. 10

Stir until done, about 2-3 minutes.

  11. 11

    Serve over hot rice.

My wife is disabled, she has M.S. And she finds it hard to cook from her wheelchair. I like a variety of foods, but hate tomatoes, so you don't see too many of my recipes with tomatoes on them. Also both of us have type II diabetes, so high carb and sweet is usually not on the menu either. We have one married daughter, and one that now lives in the Seattle area. We live in Texas, USA with our two dogs.Sorry I have not posted in awhile. Been taking chemo and radiation. and it has taken some out of me. Doctor says it seems to be working, so there is that.
