Mix Chana Dal Sabzi

Mix Chana Dal Sabzi
Steps
- 1
First soak the chana dal in hot water for an hour. Then soak the soya chunk too in hot water for an hour. Later boil the chana dal and lauki pieces together along with some salt and turmeric powder. I have add half chopped tomato too while boiling. I have crushed half boiled potato too for good consistency. Later squeeze the water from soya chunk and add them too. For reference, see the image below. Now keep this mixture aside.
- 2
Now in a chopper add onion and garlic pods and chop them fine. Then heat a pan, add some mustard oil. When the oil gets hot add the chopped onion and garlic. Add slit green chillies too. Fry them for a minute then add ginger-garlic paste in it. Let them fry for 2 to 3 minutes.
- 3
Then add the remaining half tomato paste too and mix it. Fry the masala for two more minutes.
- 4
Until the masala is getting fried, take a small bowl and in it add the dry masalas like turmeric powder, corriender powder, cumin powder, kashmiri red chilli powder, salt and sugar. Add little water to it and make a paste kind of consistency as shown below.
- 5
Now add this into the masala. Combine everything well and fry the masala well on a low flame until oil starts releasing.
- 6
Now add the boiled chana dal, soya chunk and lauki mixture into the masala. Add 1/4th cup of lukewarm water. Now mix everything well. Check the salt consistency at this stage. Now cover the pan and let it cook for 5 to 6 minutes on a low flame.
- 7
After 6 minutes open the lid and add chopped corriender and give it a mix. Switch off the flame. Mix chana dal is now ready to serve. It tastes best with hot phulkas.
