Walnut Halwa

Walnut halwa—a dessert that feels both rustic and indulgent at the same time. Known as akhrot ka halwa in Pakistan and India, this sweet dish transforms simple walnuts into a rich, deeply satisfying treat that’s often reserved for special moments or when you want to serve something a little different from the usual classics.
People are drawn into the kitchen just by the scent. Long before the first bite is given, anticipation is frequently piqued by this type of scent that indicates something unique is being prepared.
Served hot, often garnished with a touch of nuts or a hint of cardamom, this halwa fits beautifully into festive spreads or intimate family dinners. It pairs effortlessly with a cup of tea or simply stands on its own as a dessert that doesn’t need much accompaniment.
Walnut halwa keeps fresh for five to seven days when kept in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Before storing, let it cool completely to extend its shelf life. Although refrigeration is typically adequate, it can be frozen for up to three months. If necessary, add a little milk and reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave.
