Aaram Number (Diamonds) is an evening snack which can be prepared very easily. Aaram number can be prepared in two different ways, sweet and salted. I'm listing down the salted version's recipe. It is usually prepared using maida, but wheat flour is a healthier option.

Steps

20 mins
  1. 1

Mix wheat flour, red chilli powder and pepper powder and knead together using warm brine water. Use vanaspati or oil during the kneading process so that the dough is smoother.

  2. 2

Prepare dough balls out of it, similar to the balls used for making chapati. Flatten a ball to form a circle, similar to the ones we use for making puri.

  3. 3

Using a knife, draw sharp horizontal parallel lines. Then draw vertical parallel lines intersecting the horizontal lines to form rhombus or diamond shapes.

  4. 4

Heat oil in a pan and fry the diamond cuts till they turn crisp and brown in color. Serve hot with a cup of tea.
