I love making my own baby food but don't always have the time. My friend suggested this great idea. So when I have a spare half hour I make a batch up and I'm always prepared
Steps
- 1
Cook food until tender. Mash with a fork or blender. For extra smoothness pass through a sieve pressing with the back of a spoon. Leave to go cold
- 2
Spoon about half a tablespoon of puree into each of the sections of the ice cube tray. Freeze for at least 3 hours
- 3
Label the date and contents onto the freezer bags before adding the cubes of frozen puree. Knot and place back into the freezer
- 4
Keep the food simple. Don't add any seasoning. Use boiled water or baby milk (breast or formula) if the puree is too thick
- 5
Put one type of food into each bag so when deciding on what to feed baby you can mix and match something different each meal time
- 6
Good foods to start baby off on are sweet potato, parsnip, carrot, squash, apple, pear. As they get older give them more cubes or fill ice cube tray more. Use a wider range of ingredients and increase the amount of lumps
