Steps

Peel, wash, and chop potatoes into cubes small enough to eat.

Place potatoes in a large pot (4qt or more) of water.

Bring potatoes to a boil and continue to boil for about 20 minutes or until potatoes are desired consistency.

Drain and set aside.

In medium saucepan melt the butter.

Stir in flour, salt, and pepper. Once combined, stir in milk.

Cook over medium heat until thick and bubbly. Sauce with thicken more once added to the potatoes.

Add sauce to pot of potatoes and stir to combine.

Milk can be added to thin the soup if desired. Cooked bacon, chives, and/or green onions can be added at this time.
