Ingredients

  • 1/2kgPrawns shelled and deveined
  • 1/2 cupGrated coconut
  • 3 tspChilli powder
  • 1 tspTurmeric powder
  • 1-2tspBlack pepper coarsely grounded
  • 3Kokum pieces soaked in water
  • 10-12Shallots/ madras onions finely sliced
  • 5-6Garlic cloves finely sliced
  • 1inchGinger piece thinly sliced
  • 3 tbspCoconut oil
  • 2Curry leaf sprigs
  • to tasteSalt
  • 2 cupsWater

Steps

  1. 1

    In a pan put all the ingredients except oil,shallots and garlic. Cook on low flame till the water dries off.

  2. 2

    Prawns will be coated with the spice mixture.

  3. 3

    In a pan,heat oil and add shallots and garlic fry well and add the prawns.

  4. 4

    Cook on low flame for 10 mins or till the prawns are fried well.
    Serve hot with moru curry and rice.

  5. 5

    Notes
    Adding cocum is optional.
    But it gives little sour taste and it taste well.

  6. 6

    I love this to eat as a starter.
    Adding coconut and using coconut oil enhance the flavor.
