Ingredients

  1. 16 ozpackage dried farfalle pata
  2. 2 mediumgreen sweet peppers, seeded and cut into 2-inch strips.
  3. 1/4 cupbutter
  4. 1/4 cupall-purpose flour
  5. 1/2 tspsalt
  6. 1/2 tspdried oregano, crushed
  7. 1 clovegarlic, minced
  8. 4 cupwhole milk
  9. 8 ozAmerican cheese, shredded. Or medium cheddar
  10. 8 ozextra sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  11. 4 ozbite-size fresh mozzarella cheese balls
  12. 5 ozpackage sliced pepperoni, slices halved
  13. 1/4 cupshredded parmesan cheese
  14. 1/4 cupbread crumbs for top (optional)

    Preheat oven to 400°f

  2. 2

    Grease a 3-quart shallow baking dish, and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cheese sauce:

    Heat butter in medium sauce pan until melted.

  5. 5

    Stir in flour, salt, oregano, and garlic; cook and stir for 1 minute.

  6. 6

    Gradually stir in milk. Cook and stir for 1 minute more. Remove from heat.

  7. 7

    Gradually add American cheese and sharp cheddar cheese, stirring until melted.

  8. 8

    Cook pasta according to package directions, adding sweet peppers for the last 2 minutes of cooking; drain and return to pan.

  9. 9

    Add cheese sauce, mozzarella balls, and pepperoni to cooked pasta; stir to combine.

  10. 10

    Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish.

  11. 11

    Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and bread crumbs (if want bread crumbs).

  12. 12

    Bake, uncovered, about 30 minutes or until bubbly and browned.

  13. 13

    Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
