A regular member in the staple Bengali diet Rohu fish can be cooked in a variety of way.This dish can be enjoyed with both steamed rice or vegetable pullav.
Steps

Wash and clean the fish pieces and sprinkle all over with a small spoon of oil, turmeric powder and salt.

Heat oil in a kadhai and deep fry the fishes till golden brown. Remove and set aside.Lower the flame and lessen the oil in the kadhai.

In the meantime cut the onions and tomatoes into slices.Grate the ginger and chop the chillies. Grind all these ingredients into a smooth paste.

Deep fry the masala paste into a kadhai adding a little bit of water from time to time. When we'll fried and smelled add turmeric powder, salt and sugar and add water

Allow the masala water to boil.Allow the gravy to thicken and add the fried fish pieces

Cover with a lid and allow to get well cooked. Remove the lid from the kadhai. Sprinkle garam masala from top.

(Optional :you may garnish with raw tomatoes and Jasmine lime slices on the serving bowl which will give the dish a nice aroma)😊
