Ingredients

25 minutes
4 servings
  1. 1 cupponni Rice (sona masoori Rice)
  2. 1 &1/4 cupthick Coconut milk
  3. 1/2 cupthin Coconut milk
  4. 3/4 cupSugar
  5. 1/4 tspfreshly ground Cardamom
  6. 1/2 tspGhee+ additional for greasing
  7. 3/4 tspCumin seeds
  8. 1/4 tspSalt

Steps

25 minutes
  1. 1

    Soak rice in water for 5-6 hours preferably overnight

  2. 2

    Grind rice with thick coconut milk thoroughly and finely

  3. 3

    Add ground rice in a bowl. add thin coconut milk and sugar. mix until sugar dissolves completely

  4. 4

    Add salt and cardamom. mix well. Grease round tin

  5. 5

    Pour batter in greased tin and sprinkle cumin seeds on top

  6. 6

    Place the tin in steaming vessel. cover and steam for 20-26 minutes on medium heat

  7. 7

    Insert knife at centre, it should be clean

  8. 8

    Pour melted ghee on top and allow to cool completely

  9. 9

    Cut in wedges. Cut and serve. tastes best when cold
