Wash the dal and put it in cooker, add 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and boil it till one whistle.

Now grind tomatoes, chillies and ginger to make paste. Finely chop garlic.

Take a pan and heat ghee in it. Add cumin seeds, garlic and then chopped onions and satue till onions change their colour to light pink. Now add rest of turmeric powder, some more salt according to your taste, red chilli powder and mix well. Then add tomato and ginger paste and saute till it leaves ghee on it's sides.

Now mix it with boiled daal and add dry coriander powder and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice or roti.
