
Chicken and dumplings

Throw all ingredients into a large pot. Bring to a boil and cook until chicken is tender. Cool in refrigerator at least 6-8 hours. Skim all fat from the top of chilled broth.

Add enough water to chicken and broth to make 2 quarts. Bring to a boil. Add dumplings. Cover and simmer 12-15 minutes. Set aside 10 minutes

To prepare dumplings, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Blend in butter. Pour in boiling water. Roll out on a floured board and cut into strips. May substitute 4 cups self rising flour for flour, baking powder and salt.
