Chane ke dal ka halwa is my favourite since my childhood. It's usually prepared on the occasion of shab-e-barat in our house... and now it's's my son's favourite too. Made with boiled chana dal which is ground and then cooked in sugar and ghee. Awesome taste... awesome flavour.. must try

Chane ke dal ka halwa is my favourite since my childhood. It's usually prepared on the occasion of shab-e-barat in our house... and now it's's my son's favourite too. Made with boiled chana dal which is ground and then cooked in sugar and ghee. Awesome taste... awesome flavour.. must try

Wash and boil the chana dal in a pot with enough water just above the dal level. Once boiled dry on high flame to reduce the water. Cool and grind to a fine texture. Check pic for reference.

Heat 1 cup ghee in a kadhai add badi elaichi and long in it. Then add the ground dal to it. Roast on high flame for 5 mins. Then add 1 cup sugar at a time. Mix well. Keep adding ghee and sugar in small quantities. And keep stiring continuously. Chana dal halwa has a tandency to get burnt from below. So keep a check.

Add milk when it becomes difficult to stir... this wl loosen the texture of the halwa. Cook for about 30 mins. U wl start getting nice aroma and colour. Then add the chopped dry fruits and mix well. Serve in small bowls and varnish with chopped pistas.
