I have skipped the regular cheese used in burgers and replaced it with a sauce recipe of my own. I made this once for my mom who’s very health conscious and she loved it. I have skipped the regular cheese used in burgers and replaced it with a sauce recipe of my own. I made this once for my mom who’s very health conscious and she loved it. Soak black Chanaovernight and then cook in pressure cooker with 2 cups water for 2 whistles. This will take around 15-20 mins.

Once cooked and cooled a bit add the Chanato a mixer. Add all the ingredients under Chanapattice to this. Grind to a smooth paste. Add a little water if too dry.

Make round patties with the Chanapaste and fry on a pan with oil until golden brown on both sides. Set aside until we assemble the burger.

Now prep the veggies and burger buns. Slice the buns into 2 equal halves horizontally and veggies as mentioned under ingredients.

Lastly we make the sauce. This is my own recipe and trust me it tasted amazing. Mix all ingredients under burger sauce and adjust with water to get a runny consistency like that of idli batter.

Finally assemble burger. Coat the inside of the buns with the sauce. Place lettuce over it, Chanapattice and then other veggies on top. Add more sauce if needed. Cover with top of bun.

Serve hot, delicious and spicy burgers with ketchup.

Some tips: instead of mayonnaise you can substitute with curd. The main purpose of the sauce is to prevent burger from becoming too dry.
